Should I Have My Furniture Cleaned During the Coronavirus Outbreak?
Many are wondering if they should have their carpets/rugs cleaned during the current coronavirus outbreak. According to the CDC, cleaning of visibly dirty surfaces followed by disinfection is a best practice measure for prevention of COVID-19 and other viral respiratory illnesses in households and community settings….For soft (porous) surfaces such as upholstered furniture, carpeted floor, rugs, and drapes, remove visible contamination if present and clean with appropriate cleaners”. So along with keeping your counters and hard surfaces cleaned and sanitized, cleaning your furniture or carpet is definitely recommended by the CDC.
While there is currently no evidence that COVID-19 can be transmitted from soft surfaces like fabric or carpet to humans, it is certainly a good preventative measure to ensure any hard or soft surface be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized with hot water and a good disinfectant.
In addition to our current hot water extraction carpet and upholstery cleaning, we can also apply MediClean®, an EPA approved disinfectant, as an optional service.
What About Safety?
Your health and the health of our team members are our most important priority:
  1. Personal Protective Equipment and Social Distancing: Your carpet technician will be wearing personal protective equipment (i.e., disposable gloves, shoe covers and masks). They will be regularly washing hands and are asked to minimize physical interactions and maintain appropriate social distancing. Additionally, customers may call in to pay with a credit card rather than pay via the tablet computer, minimizing contact.
  2. Equipment Sanitization: Our technicians will wipe down and disinfectant their equipment between each cleaning service to ensure that the equipment coming into your home is clean and sanitized.

Together, we can all stay health during these challenging times!
